How to Winterize Your Above Ground Pool
1. Pour winter chemicals into pool and let circulate for 8-10 hours. 2. Install skimmer closure plate and return plug (If you do not use a skimmer closure plate, drain water level to below skimmer). 3. Inflate and tie air pillow in center of pool. Loosely drape cover over air pillow. Weave cable through eyelets and tighten cable beneath the top ledges with ratchet. The use of cover clips is strongly recommended to keep cover in place. 4. Detach all hoses, remove plug from pump and drain all water out of pump. Store pump and hoses in a dry place. 5. Remove drain cap from base of filter and allow filter tank to drain completely. 6. If a chlorinator is installed, remove and discard all chlorine left in the chlorinator. Remove chlorinator drain plug, or remove chlorinator completely from filter system and store in a dry place. 7. All plugs, caps, fittings, etc. should be stored in your pump’s strainer basket for safe keeping. 8. Remember to periodically remove rainwater/snow from your pool cover during the off-season. Hand pump and electric submersible pumps are available to make this as easy as possible. Maintaining a dry cover greatly increase the life span of your above ground pool cover. |
